Fairway Turf Herbicide FAIRWAY ADAMA

Description

Fairway Turf Herbicide

Active Ingredients:

  • MCPA @ 280g/L
  • Bromoxynil @ 140g/L
  • Dicamba @ 40g/L

Similar or comparable to Broadside Herbicide (Nufarm), Triple Time Herbicide (Amgrow) & Triplet Herbicide (Barmac).

Fairway Turf Herbicide is for the control of broadleaf weeds in a wide range of recreational turf situations. Fairway can be used on a large number of established turf varieties, including Common Couch, Qld Blue Couch, Kikuyu, Paspalum, Fescue, Bentgrass and Ryegrass.  Fairway Herbicide can also be used for the control of certain broadleaf weeds in wheat, barley, cereal rye, oats & triticale.

A key feature of Fairway Turf Herbicide is that it provides quick weed knockdown and is one of the broadest spectrum broadleaf weed herbicides available on the market, registered to control 11 tough weeds.  Fairway contains a dual mode of action for improved performance and resistance management.

What turf situations can Fairway Turf Herbicide be used in;

  • Recreational turf
  • Established Couch (Including Queensland Blue)
  • Kikuyu
  • Paspalum
  • Fescue
  • Bent
  • Rye Lawns

(Do not apply Fairway Herbicide to Buffalo Grass/Turf.)

What weeds does Fairway Turf Herbicide target in Turf;

Bindy-eye (Calotis hispidula) Cudweed (Gnaphaliumm spp.)
Capeweed (Arctotheca calendula) Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
Carrot Weed (Cotula australis) Fleabane (Conyza spp.)
Catsear (Hypochoeris radicata) Funnel Weed (Cotula turbinata)
Caustic Weed (Euphorbia drummondil) Jo-Jo (Onehunga) (Soliva pterosperma)
Clovers (Trifolium spp.) Thistles
Common Plantain (Plantago spp.) Three-cornered Jack (Doublegee) (Emex australis)
Common Plantain (Plantago spp.) Wood Sorrel (Oxalis spp.)
Creeping Buttercup (Ranunculus repens)

What are the benefits of dual modes of action (Group C & I) in Fairway Turf Herbicide;

Bromoxynil, one of the active ingredients in Fairway Herbicide, is a fast-acting nitrile herbicide (Group C) that works on contact by inhibiting photosynthesis in target plants.  The compound is readily absorbed into leaves with little to no downward movement to other plant parts.  Susceptible weeds quickly die from the build-up of molecules that destroy cell membranes.

The other 2 active ingredients in Fairway Turf Herbicide are MCPA and dicamba (Group I).  These active ingredients are hormone-type selective herbicides in the phenoxy category.  MCPA and dicamba provide systemic activity through leaf and root absorption.  They upset the normal hormone balance within the plant. Auxin mimic herbicides cause unregulated plant growth, resulting in symptoms on susceptible plants that include growth and reproduction abnormalities (especially on new growth).

Broadleaf weed species exhibit stem and petiole twisting (epinasty), leaf malformations, parallel venation, crinkling, leaf strapping, stem callus formation, and stunted root growth.  Plant death is gradual, due to unconstrained mobilization of reserves, however generally symptoms are observed within 7 – 14 days following application.

Questions and answers from customers

    How old does a lawn need to be before applying Fairway Turf Herbicide? We had our lawn hydro seeded with a mix of bent, rye and Kikuyu. It’s nearly 1/2 acre, and it has patches of flat weed in it, too much to remove by hand. Can I use something now on weeds, even at a lower dose rate? And what can I fertilise with, and should I do that first?

    It is generally safe to apply selective herbicides to new turf once the grass has germinated and has at least two sets of true leaves. This is usually about four to six weeks after seeding. The herbicide should be applied evenly & at the recommended rates. Fertilisation should be avoided following the application of herbicides for two weeks. We recommend a granular or foliar fertiliser with a good N, P, K & Fe nutrient ratio. A controlled-release fertiliser like ProTurf, Turf Gold or Poly Supreme would be suitable.

  2. Hi I have just bought an older property in Sydney and the lawns, I believe, are ST Buffalo and are covered in broadleaf weeds and onion weed. Would Fairway be an appropriate herbicide to use on the broadleaf weeds?

    Fairway Herbicide is not safe to use on buffalo lawns.  We recommend either ProForce Duke Herbicide or Destiny Selective Turf Herbicide which is registered for use on buffalo and is registered to control a variety of broadleaf weeds, including onion weeds.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • To enhance the movement of the active ingredients into the plant, it is recommended that Fairway be mixed with surfactants such as Wilt 700 surfactant at the rate of 250 – 500 mL/100 L of water.
  • For optimum results, it is best to apply to actively growing weeds.
  • Ideally, do not mow the turf for 2 days prior to and following the application.
  • Fertilisation should be avoided following application for a period of 2 weeks.
  • In warm conditions (temperatures over 30 degrees) application of Fairway may cause browning of turf, particularly to Paspalum species.

Restraints:

  • Do not spray when rain seems likely to occur within 3 hours.

  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures.
  • Do not use in close proximity to vines, tomatoes and other susceptible crops including flowers, vegetables, ornamentals, lupins and fruit trees.
  • To prevent damage. Do not permit drift or vapour or spray mist to come into contact with fruit and ornamental trees, cotton, vines, vegetables, flowers, tobacco, lupins or any other field crop.
  • Minimise spray drift by using low pressure and nozzles which do not give a fine droplet size.
